Boys! Get ready for some brownie points. I can guarantee your significant other will love you for these gifts and you won’t feel like you just had a mild heart attack at the amount you spent!
Fact: Everybody likes things that they believe are unattainable. It’s human nature, you always want what you can’t have.
I think my poor husband struggles each time he has to get me something. And I have some co-workers who would kill to have some one spell out exactly what they can get for their someone special without having to go through that mental struggle of figuring it out themselves. Lucky for you I have some funny stories and tips to share.
- Classic Pearl Earrings from Tiffany & Co. – these earrings are a classic. The great thing about it is, it’s not taste specific. No one can go wrong with a classic pair of pearl earrings.
And they are so versatile, you can wear them to work, parties, or even casually with a pair of jeans. They are subtle and suit any frame of face. Only caveat is you need pierced ears for these. They range from $150-$250, depending on the type of pearl they have available for sale.
The High Close: This is a versatile gift that your significant other can wear anywhere and all the time, it’ll be nice to see your gift being put to use so frequently. Plus it comes in the adorable classic Tiffany Blue Box.
- Chanel Costume Jewelry – This I believe is a hidden secret to most men. When guys walk in to a Chanel store they are expecting to drop at least a few thousand dollars. Chanel’s Costume jewelry is a tantalizing teaser taste of what the world of Chanel can be. The brand is wrought with timeless history (I would recommend watching the film Coco Avant Chanel to let men get a sense of appreciation for the brand), so I would recommend any girl to begin her relationship with Chanel slowly and carefully and getting a piece of Costume Jewelry is a great place to start. Plus they have lots of clip-on earrings too!
The Chanel costume jewelry has a huge range; you can get earrings, rings, brooches, bracelets, cuffs, and necklaces. However, pricing really varies. Chanel earrings are usually the most affordable and they start at $350, with brooches falling in the middle at about $550 and necklaces costing the most at around $1,500-$2,500.The size of the jewelry also heavily dictates the price. Smaller classic looking earrings with the double C will almost always be cheaper than a pair of earrings that are from their latest collection or are much larger in size. The material will also dictate price, heavy embellishments and more stone work will normally indicate a higher price.Stock is better at places with more Chanel Outlet stores. I know Las Vegas has a lot more stock because they have a Chanel store located within every 1 mile radius, where as, the Chanel Store in Orange County has very low stock given they aren’t that many Chanel Stores around.
Fashion Hacking Tip: Chanel outlets at international airports (e.g. Korea, Singapore or Thailand, or France) have a lot of stock and the pricing is lower than it is in North America. You can save on average $100 plus per product you buy if not more. And once again, its duty free.
If you are like my husband, and like to collect points and rewards, you may have better luck shopping from the Chanel store within a High End department store (e.g. Bloomingdales etc.) as opposed to the actual Chanel Store. This way if your significant other wants to exchange the product too, she can do so and isn’t restricted to one designer. However, stock at these smaller stores within department stores is most often not the latest or the largest.
Also, if you want to go with a better sense of what you want instead of going straight to the store and getting confused, the Chanel US Website is the only one with suggested pricing of Chanel Costume Jewelry. It’ll help you get a sense of determination when you walk into the store – here is a link.
The iPhone App for the Chanel store is also great if you ever just to want to point to the Sales Associate exactly what you are looking for. Bear in mind though, the online collection is only what they have for the latest season, their classic staples won’t be displayed online, so there usually is something within your price range if you go to the store that may not necessarily seem like it is online.
Tips for the Noobs: For those of you that have not been to a Chanel Store before, beware that this jewelry is not out in the open for display. Unfortunately, you cannot just stroll in and look around for a pair of earrings, you will have to ask a Sales Associate to show you the earrings. Be confident, you probably make more than them, and go straight up and say “I want to see your costume jewelry, in particular, I want to see earrings”. If you really want to add a punch to it; say “I’ve been sent by the High Close”. LOL.
I remember taking my friend to one of these stores, he wasn’t really feeling in his element there, but I assure you, we all feel that way, I think for some reason these stores are designed to make you feel that way. Their sense of exclusivity is why their products are so coveted. Don’t let that deter you from getting all those brownie points I have been talking about.
The High Close: This gift looks really expensive, it comes packaged really well. And the designing and manufacturing is very good. I can’t think of any one who would not like this. The brooches and earrings really “fashion-up” any outfit you wear. Check some out on my instagram page @thehighclose. These statement pieces are actually a great investment for some one who is just starting their road towards Designer Life. Highly recommended!
3.Hermes Scarves: Hermes Scarves are another great investment. They come in a very large variety – they range from pattern, color, size and fabric. Silk scarves are what they are known for. I remember a random episode where Tony Soprano got his wife one on his way back from another notorious trip. As such, depending on your budget you can get the type you want. The price ranges from as low as $160 to as high as $600. If you want to add a little more substance to it a scarf ring comes in several styles and can range from $160-$250.
If your significant other is a guy: Another great thing about Hermes’ La Maison des Carres is that they have a Chambre des Garcons too! I.e. you can get a nice tie or a silk scarf for your significant other which will be another great gift.
Fashion Hacking tip: Yes, the scarves are much cheaper in France! We are talking about at least $100 in savings. And if you are only their for a stop over a lot of airports have an hermes outlet there, e.g. the Nice airport.
Tips for the Noobs and socially awkward: I have noted in general that Hermes’ Sales Associates are a lot more amenable, so my experiences have always been great with them. However, if you prefer to shop in your pjs and not deal with human interaction, the house of Scarves collections is available online for sale. So just click, add to your cart and complete the purchase. Complimentary ground shipping on the scarves too. Here is a link to the La Maison Des Carres.
The High Close: The Hermes scarves are timeless and they go great with everything for me. These are investment pieces you should have in your wardrobe. They are super versatile and the scarves can be worn in so many ways!
My latest obsessions are the twilly scarves that I wear as a choker for the new choker trend or wrap them around my purses for an extra flare. It’s a classic worn by people like Grace Kelly and the scarves come packaged in their super cute Orange packaging.

4. Designer Leather Bracelets – This is a recent fad that hasn’t fully died down yet. It’s great because it gives access to luxury designers at affordable prices. The leather bracelets are no longer your Easy Rider kind, they vary from color to shape to size to style. All designers make them so you have to make your pick.
Some of the most popular ones are the Hermes ones (Collier De Chien) but these are in $500-$1,000 range.
I recommend Fendi, Ferragamo, and Alexander McQueen for a better price point. But all designers make them and they are affordable. Dior, Louis Vuitton and Valentino make some really good ones too. They all have online stores where you can check them out!
This is also a great option as a gift for guys, as a lot of these designers make men’s bracelets too!
The High Close: Leather bracelets have become very versatile and they are great fashion statements. They add a pop to any outfit and they are easy investments. I would recommend these as treat your-self gifts every time you want some thing designer but don’t necessarily want to spend too much.
I hope you all found this article useful. Please share it with friends who could use the advice! Also please feel free to leave comments if you have specific questions!
