Embracing Athleisure wear

This new trend is everywhere. We’ve been seeing it all over high end designers’ latest season releases to high street fashion houses such as Zara. The super model and celebrity clans have fully embraced this trend; from Gigi to Posh Spice. Athleisure wear is a god send. Finally a way to look effortlessly chic but feel super comfortable at the same time.

A good friend said; “you look cute and comfortable – usually, you can either look cute or you can look comfortable, it’s very hard to pull both off at the same time.”

This article is meant to give you tips and tricks to pull off this new look and to give you more background on what this trend is.

Well what is Atheleisure wear? Basically, it’s getting to wear work out clothes outside of just the gym. They include comfortable joggers, sneakers, bomber jackets, cozy tees and sweatshirts. But the best part is you can make it your own look, you can make it look classic and chic, flirty and fun, and daring or demure.

I know a ton of people think it’s height was 2016 and it’s a dead trend now, but I see 2017 showcasing more elegant versions of the new trend.

I think if you are new to the trend and want to try it out first, go for some high street fashion brands. My favorite are;

  1. Zara – these are great starter pieces and they range from as low as $40. See my take on it, I paired it with Valentino Rockstuds, a Dior bag and Chanel Earrings.
  1. J.O.A – Just One Answer has some really nice sateen finished joggers, these dress up the whole outfit but retain the comfort. Usually $80 but are on sale now! BC5117_NAVY_SIDE

For athleisure wear from actual athletics wear stores, I suggest:

  1. FILA – The Heritage collection by Fila has some great pieces. They range from $50- $150.
  2. Puma – Rihanna’s collection with Puma focuses on adding more flare to your average athletics wear, more like luxury athletics wear or should I say athleisure wear? The puma bow sneaker starts at $160. I particularly like the dusty pink hues that are all over this collection.364470_01_02_PNAPUMA-by-RIHANNA-1

For the more seasoned individual, some high-end brand pieces I really like are:

  1. Fendi – Fendi’s Bad Bugs and Karlito collection is easy and playful. The sweatshirts start at $800 so they are on the pricier side.

  1. Gucci – the obsession with Gucci has not ended and their sneakers and sweatshirts continue to evolve within the brand. Sweatshirts start at $1,500.
